Costa Rica Projects
Costa Rica captivates visitors with its lush rainforests, volcanic peaks, and pristine beaches along both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts. Known for its biodiversity and “pura vida” lifestyle, the country is a haven for eco-tourists, adventurers, and nature lovers alike.
Although Costa Rica has one of the lowest poverty rates in Central America at around 11 percent, rural and Indigenous communities still face higher levels of hardship. NGOs depend on international donors for nearly 60 percent of their funding, particularly for conservation and education programs. Environmental threats such as deforestation and climate-related flooding put pressure on ecosystems and local livelihoods. Volunteers supporting sustainable agriculture, environmental education, and community health projects play an essential role in advancing both conservation and social equity.
