How It Works
Determine if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
SEVA Travelers uses five criteria for determining eligibility as a host site:
1) Based in a Low- or Middle-Income Country
2) Strong program model (impressive programs worthy of support)
3) Proven management and leadership
4) Vetted by a third party organization (e.g. GlobalGiving, Candid/Guidestar)
5) Well-positioned to receive high-skilled consulting services and host a pro bono consultant
Fill Out the Inquiry Form to get the process started!
It should only take you about five minutes to submit your request and let us know how we can support you on your fundraising journey.
If selected for a service grant your NGO will be listed on our website as one of SEVA's wonderful host organizations.
We will also have a link to donate to your nonprofit organization on your Current Projects page.
Select the best possible skilled volunteer for the consulting project
SEVA Travelers will match your organization with an experienced nonprofit professional who will take the lead on your consulting project.
Before moving forward, you’ll meet the prospective volunteer virtually (via Google Meet, Zoom, or WhatsApp) to ensure it’s a good fit.
In this initial call, you’ll discuss potential visit dates and decide on a timeframe that works for you and your team.
Develop the Scope of Work and Consulting Agreement
Once we have matched you with the best possible volunteer, SEVA Travelers will set up a "scoping meeting" (also conducted virtually) to discuss the details of the proposed consulting project.
During this video call we will explore the top priorities you identified in your inquiry form, discuss what you want to accomplish in your fundraising strategy with the help of a nonprofit consultant, and decide which project to focus on during your pro bono consulting engagement.
Hosting the skilled volunteer’s on-site visit to your organization
After completing the Scope of Work (SOW) document (which outlines the project activities, deliverables, and timeline) and the Consulting Agreement, it’s time to get the project started!
Your skilled volunteer will spend about a week on-site with you getting to know your organization, meeting with various staff, and seeing the programs in action.
While visiting, they’ll usually spend mornings working on-site and afternoons exploring the local communities.
Complete the deliverables with the pro bono consultant
Once the SEVA Traveler returns to the U.S., they will continue the consulting engagement remotely, meeting with you via Zoom or Google Meet regularly until they complete the deliverables outlined in the Scope of Work (SOW) within the agreed-upon timeline.
The final step is to evaluate the success of the consulting engagement—and of course see tangible results for your fundraising!
