Organization Description:
SARA (Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir) is an animal welfare nonprofit based in the Agadir area of Morocco that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes vulnerable street animals. Its mission is “to provide animals in Morocco with the best possible chance at a happy and healthy life.”
Founded in 2013 by Michele Augsburger, the organization launched a Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) program in 2014 to help control stray dog populations and reduce disease risk; the initiative later became the first officially sanctioned TNVR scheme in Morocco. Today, SARA Morocco operates three refuge sites and focuses on rescue operations, ongoing medical care and rehabilitation, adoption placement, TNVR work, and community partnership with local bodies.
