Peru Projects
Peru fascinates visitors with its ancient Incan ruins, colorful traditions, and breathtaking scenery — especially Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley. Adventure travelers and history buffs alike flock to its wonders.
Although Peru’s national poverty rate dropped to just under 30 percent in 2023, more than 50 percent of those in Andean and Amazonian regions live in poverty. NGOs receive only 22 percent of their funding domestically, relying heavily on international philanthropy. Rural teacher shortages are up to 40 percent, and child malnutrition remains a critical issue. Volunteers working in education and sustainable agriculture carry out crucial community outreach.
