Rwanda’s overall poverty rate is about 38 percent, with rural households particularly affected. NGOs depend on international aid for 60 percent of their funding, receiving fewer than 15 percent of resources locally. HIV prevalence remains around 2.6 percent, and youth mental health support is inadequate. Volunteers engaged in school counseling, healthcare delivery, and women’s empowerment initiatives are critically needed.
