Uganda Projects
Uganda enchants travelers with its diverse landscapes, from the misty mountains of Bwindi — home to endangered mountain gorillas — to the vast savannas of Queen Elizabeth National Park and the serene shores of Lake Victoria. Its rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality leave lasting impressions on visitors.
Despite recent economic progress, about 30 percent of Ugandans live below the poverty line, with rural and northern regions facing the highest levels of deprivation. Nearly 70 percent of NGO funding comes from international donors, as local support remains limited. The country faces a shortage of 40,000 teachers and widespread under-resourced healthcare facilities, particularly in rural districts. Volunteers supporting education, maternal health, and community development programs play a vital role in addressing these pressing challenges.
