Organization Description:
Mayanza is an organization that works to improve the health of the communities of Guatemala through health education, empowerment and economic sustainability. Mayanza achieves this through 4 main projects. First, they hold interactive workshops in order to create a supportive, community-centered environment that encourages long-lasting lifestyle changes and improved well-being for Maya women and their communities. Second, they hold weekly health education sessions, taught in the children’s native language, covering essential topics such as nutrition, hygiene, and exercise. Third, they hold family health fairs. Fourth, they hold a program to train youth to take charge of their health and become leaders in their community.
